Andy Carroll to miss rest of season

West Ham striker Andy Carroll will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.
Carroll left West Ham's 0-0 draw with Southampton at St Mary's on Wednesday on crutches, after an innocuous clash which resulted in a torn medial knee ligament.
Sam Allardyce said in his press conference earlier today that the minimum time scale he thought Carroll would be out for was between four and six weeks.
However, the Hammers have now confirmed that their striker will undergo knee surgery, and is expected to miss the rest of the season.
A club statement read: "Andy Carroll will have surgery on his injured knee on Tuesday following assessment by a specialist on Friday afternoon.
"The England international injured his left knee during the second half of Wednesday night's 0-0 Barclays Premier League draw at Southampton.

"The recovery phase is expected to keep Carroll out for the remainder of the 2014/15 season."
