Some interesting facts on the CAF African POTY awards

As we draw closer to tonight's award, we want to take a look at some facts. The most wins is held by Samuel Eto'o of Cameroon who has won the award 4 times-2003-2005 and in 2010, Samuel Eto'o also shares a record with Yaya Toure, the pair are the only 2 players to win the award thrice in a row(2003-2005,2011-2013). Didier Drogba holds the record for the most number of nominations, in the last 10 editions, he has made the final three 9 times. Winning it twice and making the runner-up twice and  coming in third place twice. Nigeria and cote d' Ivoire holds the record for the highest number of top 3 finalists with both countries also holding the same number of winners 5. 14 players have been crowned winners since the award began in 1992. Only 3 players over the age of 30 have won the award-Patrick Mboma of Cameroon, Fredric Kanoute of Mali and Yaya Toure of CIV. Since CAF took over the award in 1992, the English premier league has produced most winners for a record 7 times. No player from the southern part of the continent has won the award. And finally, this had to come last, the Geman league has never produced a winner-will this work against Aubameyang?
