Match Review- Atletico vs Real
What a game we saw yesterday! It was an exciting night for the returning Fernando Torres and his Atletico team as they came out on top in the last 16 of this season's copa del rey with a 2-0 victory against bitter rivals Real Madrid. Goals from Javi Garcia and Jimenez was enough to see out Real. Real's Coach, Carlo Ancelloti surprisingly left out Cristiano Ronaldo from the starting 11 starting him from the bench. Could we say he is following Barca's Luis Enrique's example? Because interestingly they also lost their game after Leo Messi was left out on sunday. Real did control the game for huge periods and had their fair share of misses too- a saved effort from Sergio Ramos after a well taken header from a corner-kick, a Gareth bale header that was in the back of the net but correctly judged as offside. And it was Sergio Ramos that would be thanked by Atletico players for gifting them a penalty kick, he should have known better than bringing down Javi Garcia like that! What was he thinking sef? And the 2nd goal was from a corner kick headed in by Jimenez. Interesting to note is that in any game involving this 2 sides, there are always headers! Jimenez's goal was a header and that was the 6th header scored by Atletico in their last 10 meetings against Real. This result now puts Atletico in pole position to get to the next round, though they still have the 2nd leg to play at the Bernabeu. So who do you think will qualify? Pls leave your comments.

Well in the last 10 games between these two teams at the Santiago bernabeau, real ve only lost 2 and drawn 1 ,that leaves them with 7 wins. Now with their desire to bounce back from two straight defeats and have one over their noisy neighbours the second leg of the cup match is gonna be a really tight affair...but I'd ve to give it to real Madrid to progress and qualify, they're capable of doing the impossible, this was well expresssed the last time the two teams met in the uefa champions league final... my prediction real 4 -1atletico..
